Born and raised in western North Dakota, Kaye Burian says her painting subjects come naturally. She and her husband own and operate Lazy 77 Ranch near Manning, North Dakota so ranching is a big part of her life. In addition to their commercial red and black angus herd of cattle, they also raise and work American quarter horses. Kaye’s daily interaction with horses provides constant references that allow lifelike and detailed depictions in her art.
Kaye graduated with a B.S. degree from Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota.
She was the Featured Artist at the North Dakota Council of the Arts in 2014, and won the Steel Dust Award for best Artist at the American Quarter Horse Association’s America’s Horse in Art Show & Sale in Amarillo, Texas in 2013. Kaye Burian has been featured in Western Art Collector Magazine, Southwest Art magazine, Horses in Art magazine, Western Horseman magazine, and America’s Horse magazine.
